Economics, Math, Physics
I have a BA in Physics and Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley and an MS in Applied Physics from Stanford University. I love everything science-related and try to pass that passion and knowledge to future generations, having tutored students in all levels of math, physics, and economics over the past 8 years. I enjoy breaking concepts down in a way that students can intuitively understand them. My research background, which is rooted in solid state physics and particle accelerators, fuels a deep understanding of complex concepts and a creative approach to explaining them. I enjoy observing how different people learn and adjusting my teaching style to match the needs of each student. Outside of teaching, I find joy in gardening, cooking, and textile crafts. I look forward to meeting and helping you achieve your academic goals!

Math
With over thirty years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California, I bring both deep content knowledge and a passion for helping students develop confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for mathematics. Throughout my career, I have tutored a wide range of math courses, including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus while fostering learning environments that emphasize inquiry, problem-solving, and real-world application. My tutoring approach centers on hands-on, engaging the student in math concepts that will allow them to make meaningful connections between mathematical concepts and the world around them.

Biology
I am originally from Texas but now live, teach, and raise my children in the Bay Area. A few years after graduating from the University of Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, I went on to pursue my teaching credentials and I have been a High School Science teacher for over 14 years. In that time I've taught a number of different subjects, but my passion has always been for the subject of Biology. That passion began when I was a young boy. An appreciation for the scientific method, a strong interest in the application of scientific knowledge toward solving problems, and a deep commitment to the pursuit of truth has guided my professional career and steered me toward a lifelong love of science. It is that same passion that I have sought to share with hundreds, if not thousands, of students since I began teaching. Biology can be an incredibly interesting subject, but it can also be a truly confusing and challenging subject as well. It is my hope to help students through those challenges and help them to gain confidence and a strong command of the subject matter. My educational philosophy centers around the idea that students learn best when they pursue their own interests. Since meaningful knowledge is acquired more through learning than through "being taught" this means the best type of teaching seeks to facilitate the development of a student's own passions. In short, we tend to learn what we care about and we learn best when we enjoy the process as well. If that interest lies in Biology, then I am happy to help students cultivate their skills. If that interest lies somewhere else, then I am equally happy to help students navigate the course and overcome the challenges it may present.

Math, Physics
Mathematics and physics have fascinated me ever since I was a young kid lost in the joy of solving puzzles and mesmerized by the cosmic possibilities when I first saw Star Wars on the television. Since then, I acquired a double B.S. in both fields at University of California, Davis, in 2005, returning to academia in 2017 to earn a M.A. and M.S. in those very fields, respectively, at San Francisco State University. My tutoring journey began in college working with peers, and then split between working as a graduate teaching assistant in various topics within mathematics and physics as well as traditional tutoring for those who needed focused help or a desire to push beyond the classroom norm. Having seen how the subject matter is taught in the classrooms at various levels, I knew I could bring something new and essential to give students critical tools to aid themselves in understanding the content but also enabling their self-confidence. Seeing them flourish and realize that they can do well and even go beyond their expectations is exciting. Even to this day, I still study and look into the frontiers of what is happening in research in both fields because they are simply cool. Learning never stops and sharing that passion is a joy.
