SMALL GROUP TUTORING
Here are answers to the most common questions we receive about small group tutoring.
Q: How does small group tutoring work at High Performance Tutoring?
You may come to us with a group already formed or you may request to be placed in an existing group. One of our tutors will meet your group at a time and location that you all agree to. To maximize everybody's learning experience, we do not allow groups to exceed five students. See our pricing page for a complete list of our prices for small group tutoring.
Q: What if the other students in my group are way ahead of me or way behind?
In these situations, we want students to communicate with us so that we can place them in a group that is more suitable for their needs. If a student is too far ahead or behind the other students in the group, this will not be conducive to the student’s learning and may cause the other students’ learning to suffer as well. In the ideal situation, all of the students in a group will be at approximately the same ability level and have similar learning styles.
Q: Can I try out an hour of group tutoring for free?
High Performance Tutoring does not offer free group tutoring at this time since the price is already greatly discounted. We encourage students to schedule a free one-on-one tutoring session if they wish to assess our services before paying for group tutoring.
Q: What if I need to cancel a group tutoring session?
Unfortunately, High Performance Tutoring cannot offer refunds or transfer credit for an individual needing to cancel a group tutoring session, since this would impact the price for the other members in the group. The only way to cancel a group tutoring session and be refunded or receive transfer credit is to have everybody in the group unanimously agree to cancel the session. In this case all parties must contact the company at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled session.
Q: Are payments for group tutoring sessions handled differently than those of private tutoring sessions?
Not really. Every member of the group is billed separately on the same day of the tutoring session, unless everybody agrees to an alternative arrangement. Group members should keep in mind that the price of the session will vary depending on the number of students in attendance.
